Anna Karlin

For Thomas Erber’s annual Cabinet of Curiosities exhibition — where artisans create one-off objects or artworks that are showcased at Colette in Paris — designer Anna Karlin was inspired by customary Victorian cabinets of curiosity. Riffing on tradition, Karlin referenced the shape of the 19th-century cabinets, but outlined them in raw steel for a touch of modernity. Within the confines of these containers, 60 handblown glass bell jars housed sculptures that were created from material remnants leftover from Karlin’s suppliers and other workshops. “Instead of the domes being this perfect Victorian object, they show the hand process in their form,” says Karlin. “You can see a bit of wobble.”

Note: A ceramic sculpture can be added for $125.
