The Amoeba is a play on its name, mirroring the freeform shape of the pseudopodia organism. A fiberglass surface with a silver mirror enamel finish organically melds into an amorphous composition, blurring the concept of its functionality. “You don’t know if it’s a sculpture or a piece of furniture,” says designer Ben Erickson of Erickson Aesthetics about his creation. “I wanted to leave it up to the end user — you can hang it on the wall or leave it on the floor as a coffee table — anything goes.”
